So I have to apologize for not blogging for like 2 weeks... I do have a good reason (as if having 3 kids, and working full time isn't enough! LOL)
Well... here is my reason:
I have been too overwhelmed and sad to blog! I don't know what to say... and what I have to say isn't going to make me feel any better about the situation by blogging about it! SO I just haven't!
So what happened, why am I sad? Well, here goes:
Bunny had her follow up with the GI doctor on July 12th ~ that went PERFECT! We are on the right track with her on this. They said we can keep her on it for awhile (which we are) and start to try wheen her off to see how she does. We tried that and sure enough she needs the MiraLax in order to have regular (not super hard) BMs.
But while we were there at the GI doctor's office Ry was looking at her head and we both noticed something... we asked the nurse and she said she could see it too and we may want to follow up with our pediatrician. I immediately called our Dr. (those of you who know me, know I am constantly checking baby's heads due to Peanut's condition, I have noticed it before but it really didn't concern me until that day). Fast forward to the NEXT day and we got in to see our Dr. (LOVE LOVE LOVE her!) and sure enough she saw it too.
WHAT?! What is it??
Well, Bunny's forehead buldges out more than our other kiddos. This can mean a lot of things. What is concerning us is that her fontanelle (soft spot) is smaller than it should be for her age. This means that her suture lines may be fusing together faster than they should be. However, her head growth has been within the 25% every time so she wasn't that concerned. So Dr. sipes ordered us to go to PMI (Prescott Medical Imaging) to get a US of Bunny's head to check the suture lines AND she wants us to see Dr. Kelsey for Physical Thearpy (this was also Peanut's PT Dr.). Dr. Sipes indicated that in the 20+ years she has been in practice she has only seen 2 times that these types of conditions have needed surgery. Others have needed helmets or just exercises.
Here is a picture of a newborn's head:
Wednesday: We had the PMI appointment on Wednesday (7-18). By the time I got back to the office from dropping Bunny back at home I had results!!! YEAH her cranium looks great, completely normal. PRAISE GOD she is ok!! That was a breath of fresh air for me, I am a worry wart and I have been so worried!
Thursday: Dr. Sipes' office calls me and Bernice (our nurse) tells me that she doesn't know how to tell me this but PMI didn't get a good view of Bunny's suture lines (the whole reason we went there!!!!). She indicated that they don't know if everything is ok or not. OMG ~ Mommy freak out mode now!!! Back to worrying! Bernice said Dr. Sipes didn't want to order another image of Bunny's head until she sees Dr. Kelsey. Then she saw Dr. Kelsey on later that Thursday. BAD NEWS! Bunny is behind! She should already be rolling over and be able to hold herself up for 5-10 seconds on her elbows which right now she cannot. THIS IS MY FAULT!!! Because of her tummy issues (GI Dr stuff) I have not encouraged her to do tummy time. And I thought she was ok because she can already (and has been) holding up her head on her own. Nope, she is a little behind. So for now we are seeing Dr. Kelsey weekly. But the good news is that Kelsey said that she knows how well we work on our kiddos so she would not worry about coming weekly, or even bi-weekly because she trusts that we will work with her. We opted to have her come more instead of less to make sure we are on the right track. So back to PT we go! Dr. Kelsey also indicated that although her forehead is noticeable it is not impeeding on her mobility so this may just be the way her head is, not necesarily a bad thing.
Mommy calms down a litte at this point!
No word from Dr. Sipes on Friday or over the weekend (obviously). I called the office on Monday. They didn't know anything (well at least there wasn't anything in her file, Dr. Sipes HAS talked to Dr. Kelsey). So I called Dr. Kelsey.
Monday night: Dr. Kelsey calls me regarding her conversation with Dr. Sipes. They want to order a catscan!!! OMG! again mommy freak out mode... is it really that bad?? Or am I freaking for no reason? Who really knows?? Anyways back to my conversation with Kelsey~ she indicated that she recommended to Dr. Sipes to keep an eye on her head growth over the next couple of weeks. She doesn't want her to go in for the catscan if it really isn't needed. She told her that Bunny was a little behind mainly because she hasn't been exposed to tummy time but with that under control now she doesn't think it will take too much time to catch her up (I mean after all she is showing signs of wanting to roll over).
So this is where we are at... a waiting pattern for now! I have no idea what really is going on with our sweet Bunny's head. We are still concerned about how much her forehead budges out, but it could be nothing. The not knowing is driving me insane! I want to know if her suture lines are fusing, I trust our Dr.(s) but I am scared at this point... what if our Bunny is one of those few that need surgery???
Please say a prayer for our Bunny and for Ry and I so that we can get through this without freaking too much!!!
There you have it, this is my reason for not blogging lately. I will try to get back on track (I did post 2 other blogs with pictures earlier).
