These special ladies are very dear to me, they are the best! They put so much thought into the shower for us, even down to my favorite color... purple. The theme was mainly butterflies (again my favorite).
Tina handmade the invitations and they were BEAUTIFUL! Tina also was gracious enough to have the party at her house. She covered the decorations and boy did she do a great job (my sister and I went over on Friday to help decorate but everything was her ideas). It was really beautiful.
Actually, on Friday Tina and I took off work to "prepare" for the shower; Brandi joined us as well. To start off the "preparation" I dropped off my little man to the sitter and then went home, did a little housework and Brandi and I went food shopping. Then Tina met us at my place, off to get lunch, then for some fun shopping at Hobby Lobby. After spending a long time there getting all kinds of ideas we were off to start decorating. We did so much at Tina's, it was so much fun. We were supposed to meet at the mall and have a SPA DAY (before decorating), but plans changed. Yes this is preparing for the shower, I don't care what anyone else says! Instead we met BEFORE the shower for our spa day. It was so much fun to do the "girly" thing and get mani & pedis... its been so long! This was much needed girl time! Remind me why I don't have this more often???
Brandi took care of most of the food and I was so excited that she decided to do the watermelon baby carriage... I have always wanted that! The spread was amazing, we had fruit (as well as chocolate covered strawberries, my fav!), veggies, cheese and crackers, salad, pin wheel sandwiches and raspberry lemonade (provided by Tina).
Brandi did an amazing job, everything looked so beautiful. Also, instead of a cake we had butterfly cupcakes (YUMMY) and she decorated them so well!
Lacy took care of the rest of the decorations (balloons) and the games! Lacy (and all of these ladies) is so talented, she does such beautiful work with her balloons. For the games we played the Itsy Bitsy Baby Parts (Ultrasound game) with all ultrasounds that were of baby Reese. SO fun! It was so funny to see everyone struggle trying to figure out what baby part it was. We also played the "poopy diaper" game - yes the one where you melt different candy bars in diapers and have to guess which one it was. That was hilarious seeing everyone put the diapers to their noses, and really some of those candy bars really look like the real thing (YUCK).
The loot for baby Reese:
We received so many gifts, we are so grateful! We are completely set in the clothes section (huge thank you to Auntie Brandi (mostly) and to Auntie Lacy and Sunni) ~ we are blessed with hand-me-downs (love them). But we also received the highchair we wanted (thanks Grandma), some BEAUTIFUL handmade blankets (thank you Nana, Helen & Cookie), other outrageously cute clothes, towels, bath items, much more & gift cards! We are blessed with everything that came our way and extremely grateful!
I had such a blast and I am so happy that all of these special women could celebrate our new addition with us! Thank you so very much! Now I just cannot wait until she gets here to used all of the great gifts!
We even had some really great family picture times:
