Oh NO the BIG 3-0!

WARNING LONG LONG POST!

Today is an AWESOME day! Today at 11:29 pm, 30 years ago the world was changed... at least in my eyes (even though I wasn't born yet) and definitely in his Mom's eyes (family's too). Today is the BIG 3-0 for my hubby!

Then ~ 6 lbs 3 oz, 21 inches
Now ~ a wonderful man!

I am honored to share the next decade of his life with him... we started with his 20's and those were wonderful/amazing and sometimes sad (but honestly mostly good); so these next years are gonna be the BEST yet! How could they not... we have 2 BEAUTIFUL children and we are happily married... LIFE IS GOOD!

As some of you know I tried VERY hard to surprise Ry for his big day... in the form of a surprise party on Saturday. But sadly that didn't work out as I planned; instead I had to tell him earlier this month (let's just say he was being a brat because he didn't think anyone cared... we will leave it at that). But honestly I am kind of glad he did know... everything (decorations-wise) I had planned there was NO way I could have done that in a short time span. Thus I told him that I was planning something (did not tell him, who, what, where and when); other people let it out that it was a party and where and he of course put together the when (lol). So the surprise wasn't there but family, friends and good food were!

INVITATION: Of course I custome made the invitation. I am really REALLY proud of this one... it took a lot of time but came out amazing! I am very proud!
DECORATIONS: I also worked very hard on the overall decorations... pictures, pictures, pictures all of Ry growing up (this quickly became the theme). This was kind of hard to pull together but I ended up getting WAY more than I had originally thought I would ~ thank you everyone! At final count I had put up 176 different pictures (holy cow!) of Ry growing up, not including the pictures we already have in frames; again hence the reason it was good that he found out because there was NO WAY I could have put all of those up with a short time frame. I also made a matching banner as well. I also took a picture from every year of his life and put it on the theme background (shhhh!) and put from what age that was, that was displayed on our sliding glass door. Here are some pictures of just the decorations... some but not all!

More hallway

 Kitchen
 More kitchen
More kitchen... I literally had pictures EVERYWHERE!
I am very proud of how the banner turned out as well!
The door with the "ages" pictures... below is an example of what I did to each year picture
I also had balloons throughout the house (black balloons and 30 colored ones). The napkins and plates were of course themed as well...
I obviously put a lot of effort and detail into the decorations, I even did a 1981 cutout that was displayed.
The food tables even matched with their food cards and table centerpiece (I enlarged the 30 on the invitation). The menu consisted of: veggie tray, fruit tray, chicken egg rolls, buffalo chicken dip, Tina's FAMOUS salsa (he LOVES anything she cooks... I gotta give it to her, she can cook up some mean food!), chips & dip, pinwheel sandwiches (which we could have done without because they were barely touched), jalapeƱo poppers, Amber's famous banana cream dessert (again could have done without because it wasn't really eaten), Mom's FAMOUS baked beans (they are truly awesome), deviled eggs, meatballs and birthday cake (which HAD to be angel food cake with homemade chocolate frosting ~ a tradition). Of course it was BYOB (cause I cannot afford to buy everyone drinks... and do not know what they like). Everyone commented on the food so I am assuming it went over well! Even the kids were grubbing on it. YEAH me!

I didn't get pictures of the other food table :( but oh well!

PARTY FAVOR: I thought long and hard about how I would say "thank you" to our friends and family for attending... I mean after all how do you really thank those who have come from out of town and those who are ALWAYS there for our special events??? So as a result I came up with 30 Random Facts about Ryan with his favorite, Sweet Tarts (although I only found the chewy ones which aren't his favorite). And as always I forgot to tell everyone and didn't put it in the best place so we have A LOT left over... oh well!

PARTY GOERS: Now on to the people who came... I was very thankful that most tried to keep it a secret for me and for all who wanted to celebrate with us! Here is where I would like to take a moment to THANK everyone who celebrated with us... Mom, Mom, Dad & Danielle, Brandi, Domi & Marshall, the Nortons (who came from Vegas just for the evening for his party... many thanks!), Gramps & Gram, the Campbell-Webers, the Lauers, the Mitchells, Tom, the Shafers, and those of you I forgot (sorry). Also BIG thanks to those who couldn't make it but helped (in more ways than not) due to being sick... Tina (the salsa is AMAZING; and thanks for helping with the invitations) and the Riveras (the balloons were a perfect addition) ~ you all were missed. And those of you who were there in spirit... thank you!
 Gramps & Gram & friend
Brandi & Marshal aka Junior ~ I like him, they are cute together

I rarely like a picture of myself but this one I love... Joan caught me in the act of something and it turned out great!
Oh Ry!
I am in love with this little man!
And I guess this big man as well!
This could have been a nice picture ~ thanks Ry

And here we are as a drunk batman! LOL

So that was the party!

Now on to today... Ry stayed home... a day of solitude! Then when we got home I surprised him (for once) with his favorite... Mint Chocolate Chip cake from Baskin Robins. And I invited my sister, Domi and Marshall over for cake (since today starts my official diet I didn't want to eat it all by myself). And we were serenaded by our wonderful son!

I am a little sad I didn't get a good picture of us during these events but I am happy he had a great time!

Happy Birthday Babe! I hope this is the best years of your life! Welcome to your 30s!
