Yesterday we had the rare pleasure of attending a AZ Cardinals game... FOR FREE! Ry's co-worker gave him 4 tickets with parking passes because they could not attend the game. Granted it was a preseason game but nonetheless it was FUN!

We left for the stadium so that we had plenty of time to look around because this is a one-of-a -kind stadium, with retractable field!
Before we got to the stadium we decided in an effort to save some money to eat BEFORE we went in... Ry had the pleasure of having Chic-fil-A for the first time. BEST chicken sandwich EVER! We even got some to sneak into the game.
Logan sort of understood the concept of going to the game... he even asked if Burnie was going to be there (he is the AZ Sundogs hockey mascot, of whom Logan is afraid of). He seemed excited until we started getting closer to the stadium... it was HUGE!

Here is some Cardinals history that I never knew before:
- The Cardinals is the nation's oldest continuously-operated professional football franchise.
- The franchise was founded in 1898, they join the Chicago Bears as the only 2 remaining charter members of the NFL.
- The Cardinals have been in the Bidwill family since 1932
- William Bidwill, the current owner has been involved with the Cardinals for 8 decades. He became the sole owner in 1972.
- The Cardinals moved to St. Louis in 1960 (don't quite know when they moved to AZ)
- The University of Phoenix stadium cost $450 million, it is seated on 165-acres in Glendale.
- The retractable field is unique; it weighs 18.9 million-pounds and is 234 feet wide and 403 feet long, it takes approximately 70 minutes (yes, 1 hour and 10 minutes) to roll the field in, it has natural grass; it is positioned inside the stadium on game days and outside the remaining 350+ days to receive sunlight and watering.
- The retractable roof takes approximately 10 minutes to completely open or close

The game wasn't going so well for AZ, a minute into the 4th Quarter they were losing 16-0 so we decided to beat the rush and leave. Plus Bubba had been begging me to leave since the 2nd Quarter. So off we went. When we were heading out of Phoenix toward Prescott (going up the hill on I-17), not 20 minutes after we left I got a text from Ry's mom saying "wow... what a game to come back and win. GREAT game to see" my response was WHAT?! We were sure the were going to lose because when we left it was 16-0 Texans. Nope they WON! HOLY CRAP, go figure they won because we left! LOL
Here is the play-by-play: with 8.5 minutes to go in the 4th AZ made a touchdown, no extra points. At 6 minutes to go AZ made another touchdown. These touchdowns were made because the Texans had 2 penalties. With 1 minutes 53 seconds to got AZ made another touchdown and got the extra point! Can we say CRAZY! So literally we learned that in the NFL a game is not over until it is OVER ~ we should have stayed, what an experience that would have been (although it was pretty great anyway).
YAY! Looked like a lot of fun! Fun memories of a game! GO CARDS!
